Chief  E. James Cole

M.A., NREMT-P, WEMT

Chief Cole and his family moved to San Juan Island in 2005 after a 20 year career in EMS in the Midwest.  Jim has a broad range of experience including 9-1-1 EMS Supervisor, flight paramedic, EMS administrator and paramedic educator.

 Jim is a veteran Nationally Registered Paramedic of over 23 years, holds a Bachelor of Science in Community Health, a Master's Degree in Higher Education and is a Wilderness EMS instructor for SOLO.  Prior to coming to San Juan, he was the Program Manager for the Cleveland Clinic's School of EMS.

He is Past President of the San Juan County Chiefs' Association and is an active member of the San Juan County EMS Council. National EMS Management Association, National Association of EMTs, and National Association of EMS Physicians.  He is a popular instructor at state and regional EMS events on the topic of remote and wilderness EMS.

Jim and his family enjoy spending time together, bicycling, camping, boating, and listening to Celtic music.  With Cathy his wife of 18 years, they have 3 children; all of whom attend the local schools.
