Training Officer Weyshawn KoonsNREMT-P, WEMT, SEI
Weyshawn Douglas Koons serves as our Training Officer and is one of our career paramedics for San Juan Island EMS. She has lived on San Juan since the Thanksgiving of 1981. Ten years after moving here, Weyshawn took the EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) class and fell in love with emergency pre-hospital care. She is also a certified flight EMT, Marine rescue Technician, and Wilderness EMT. She is a Washington State Certified Senior EMS Instructor. She then spent a year in 1996-1997 going through the University of Washington's Medic One Program in Seattle. She feels privileged to be able to share in so many of her patient's lives. "I think I am one of the luckiest people, ever! I live on a beautiful island in the midst of an incredible community and get to work with the finest EMT's in the world. I love my family, my friends, my job and the camaraderie I share with my co-workers," Weyshawn says. Email Weyshawn at training@sanjuanems.org. |
