NO PREREQUISITES. Great for first-timers. Cost: $110, includes books and materials. Lodging and meals separate. WFA Part II (16 hours)Wilderness First Aid Part II (WFA-II) is the perfect course for those who enjoy high altitude and extreme condition backcountry exploits. As a follow-up to Wilderness First Aid, the WFA Part II course provides not only more in-depth information on topics already covered including medical and environmental emergencies but also presents new skills like improvising litters and litter-carrying techniques. More hands-on practice with greater emphasis on leadership is a key element. Two day formats are taught as "Pt. II" with WFA as prerequisite. Basic WFA required. Cost: $110, includes books and materials. Lodging and meals separate. AWFA (32 hours)Advanced Wilderness First Aid (AWFA) is a 32 hour course that combines both beginner through advanced Wilderness First Aid skills into one course. The AWFA course provides in-depth information on topics like medical and environmental emergencies but also presents skills like improvising litters and extreme altitude and marine environments. More hands-on practice with greater emphasis on leadership is a key element. Four day format. NO PREREQUISITES. Cost: $200, includes books and materials. Lodging and meals separate. Wilderness First Responder (80 hours)Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is for those finding themselves in truly remote settings with little to no medical support for an extended period of time. Usually taken by guides, kayakers, mountain climbers, camp counselors, and others who need an advanced wilderness medical course. NO PREREQUISITES. Cost: $450, includes books and materials. Lodging and meals separate. WFR Refresher (16 hours)WFR Refresher (WFR) is for those currently certified as Wilderness First Responders. This course focuses on a review of the WFR curriculum as well as multiple scenarios designed to challenge the WFR. Current WFR required. Cost: $120, includes books and materials. Wilderness Module Upgrade (48 hours)Wilderness EMT Module (WEMT) is a 48 hour course. Course locations vary throughout the San Juan Islands, each utilizing a combination of classroom time and trips throughout the island wilderness to put your knowledge into an experiential "classroom" on the trail. Must be currently certified as an EMT with CPR. This course is approved by the State of Washington Department of EMS and Trauma Services for continuing education credit which is also accepted by the National Registry of EMTs. Cost: $300, includes books and materials. Lodging and meals separate. Wilderness EMT REFRESHER (16 hours)Wilderness EMT Refresher is a 16 hour re-certification course. Course locations vary throughout the San Juan Islands, each utilizing a combination of classroom time and trips throughout the island wilderness to put your knowledge into an experiential "classroom" on the trail. Must be currently certified as a WEMT. Cost: $110, includes books and materials. Lodging and meals separate. |
