First Community Safety Partner Awarded

San Juan Island EMS is pleased to award Village at the Harbour the recognition of our first Community Safety Partner award for their continuing efforts of providing proactive education, training, and best patient practices in the areas of cardiac resuscitation response and fall and injury prevention.

“We were pleased to grant the Village at the Harbour Assisted Living Center our very first award.  The Village designed and constructed their facility with many features to prevent injuries from falls and to enhance the life safety of its residents. They have also consistently partnered with San Juan Island EMS to educate our EMTs about their operations to enhance our response to emergencies.  Every staff member is certified in CPR and AED use, and they have an AED on site,” Chief Jim Cole said.

“The Village hosted our continuing education session last night which focused on fall and injury prevention in the older person,” said Dr. Michael Sullivan who is the Medical Program Director for San Juan County. “They are a great example of an organization that really cares for patients and goes above and beyond for safety and service.”

The Community Safety Partner Program recognizes organizations and individuals who make significant proactive efforts to address an area of safety and risk prevention.
